Chico Nut Co., Chico, CA

Chico Nut is a privately owned company, established in 1987. It is vertically integrated by growing, processing, and marketing almonds. The company produces a very high quality product; approximately 70 percent of Chico Nut almonds are shipped to international markets for confectionary products.

Production Manager: November 2010 – present

  • Responsible for daily supervision of huller and sheller operations at the Arbuckle processing plant
  • Coordinate production, and manage the receiving, processing, fumigating, and shipping of product inventory
  • Ensure quality assurance levels are met or exceeded.
  • Work closely with plant manager and sales department to manage efficient production flow, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Manage employee and food safety standards to ensure compliance with company HAACP and GMP protocols.
  • Supervise high performing team of 50 during processing season (24/7 operation).
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of huller/sheller machines with an overall goal to decrease down time.

Paint Rock Canyon Enterprises, Hyattville, WY

Paint Rock Canyon Enterprises is a cow/calf commercial operation located in North Central Wyoming. The ranch currently runs approximately 1200 head of cattle raised and weaned as Natural. The ranch has 2000 irrigated acres. The ranch produces alfalfa and grass for hay and grazing.

Livestock Manager: June 2009 – October 2010

  • Responsible for daily care of over 1200 commercial Black Angus cows, calves, and bulls. This included nutrition, feeding, calving, vaccinating, branding, and overall health maintenance to keep breeding “Natural.”
  • Responsible for management of over 100 horses including weanlings, yearlings, colts, riding horses, broodmares, and four stallions.
  • Managed “cow camp” on public land in the Big Horn Mountains. Monitored and rotated pastures.
  • Managed eight college interns during the summer.
  • Other responsibilities included irrigating with pivot, gated pipe, and flood style systems.

Chico Nut Co., Chico, CA

Assistant Manager: October 2008 – May 2009 (part-time while attending CSU Chico)
Responsibilities included: mapping inventory to improve data integrity; working with database to track product distribution and quality; teach computer skills to enhance employee proficiency, designing new fumigation system construction project; and assisting management as needed on special projects to increase plant efficiency.

Barnes Cattle Co., Corning, CA

Ranch Hand: Spring 2008 (part-time while attending CSU Chico)
Responsibilities included branding, vaccinating, shipping, and overall care of 700 mother cows and 150 heifers. Other duties included: fixing fences, changing irrigation, and feeding.

Prather Ranch, Macdoel, CA

Crew Member; Hay Production – Summer 2007

This position required mechanical skills and physical stamina to support hay production of approximately 3,700 acres. Assessed and ensured equipment was ready and capable of producing bales that met Prather Ranch organic and conventional quality standards. Maintained equipment, irrigation systems, and performed other maintenance duties.


Worked for luxury guest ranches during the summers of 2003-05. Held part-time retail position during high school.
